UOL CSSPR hosts the address by President AJK


The Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) at University of Lahore hosted the address by President AJK, Sardar Mohammad Masood Khan on ‘Pakistan’s Kashmir Narrative: Reconnecting the Youth' on April 26, 2017.

Talking to a large number of faculty and students from various disciplines at the University of Lahore, President AJK shared facts about the Kashmir dispute, expanded on Pakistan’s Kashmir narrative and shared his six point agenda for the way forward. He reiterated that the Kashmiris under occupation in the Indian occupied Kashmir are the most unarmed nation on earth yet it is unfortunate that the Indian media portrays them as terrorists and militants. President AJK applauded Pakistan’s efforts for standing with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and urged all Pakistanis especially the youth to continue to raise voice against the horrific Indian brutalities on every forum. He told the audience to show solidarity with the Kashmiris and use social media to raise the profile of the indigenous Kashmiri freedom movement which is the single largest non-violent freedom movement led by millions of unarmed Kashmiris.

President AJK spoke at length about the Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir, the inefficacy of the UN on Kashmir issue resulting in the collective failure of humanity in Kashmir. He rejected the notion that Kashmir dispute is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. He stated that this narrative of bilateralism propagated by India must be shun since there are four parties to the conflict: India, Pakistan, the Kashmiris and the UN. Kashmiris are not invisible in this dispute and we must keep them alive in our narrative and popular discourses.

The Chairman, University of Lahore, Mr. Awais Raoof introduced President AJK in his welcome remarks and thanked him for his inspirational leadership and for becoming a powerful voice on the Kashmir issue. The event was attended by the Patron University of Lahore, Mr. M.A. Raoof Deans, Head of the Departments, Rectors and Pro-Rectors of the University of Lahore and some notable personalities from Lahore.

Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Director Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research in her closing remarks thanked President AJK, Sardar Masood Khan for reinvigorate youth’s resolve for taking the Kashmiri freedom movement forward and keeping it alive in their hearts, communities and the world at large.
