Engineering
is a challenging, exciting and rewarding area
of study. It is a rapidly advancing field that
has a significant impact on shaping modern society.
It is a creative process involving the design
of systems, components, or processes to meet desired
needs. Throughout our curriculum, students gain
experience with both the fundamentals of design
as well as realistic engineering problems. Creativity
and design experience are introduced by means
of open-ended problems, use of modern computer-aided
tools, and laboratory work.
The department puts
forth the following educational objectives for
thestudents entering the Electrical Engineering
programme:
1. A solid foundation
in mathematics, physical sciences, and computer
programming to ensures successful completion of
the EE undergraduate programs, future professional
growth with fact-based reasoning and analysis.
2. A broad engineering
core competence which enables our students to
communicate and interact effectively with engineers
in different areas of specialisation and to make
technology decisions with confidence. This includes
developing in our undergraduates the ability to
perform integrated problem solving from problem
identification, to analysis, hypothesis testing,
solution verification, and implementation.
3. Available faculty
with in-depth knowledge and experience in Communication,
Electronics Engineering, Computer System and Signal
Processing to provide challenging environment
to students to build knowledge and develop skills
that incorporates engineering standards with realistic
constraints, essential for preparation of their
first job.
4. The Department
of Electrical Engineering believes that optimistic,
self-confidence and high degree of personal integrity
should be the hallmark of the students passing
out from here. An all-out effort both by the management
and the faculty has always been in the focus to
meet this end.
Degree
Programmes
The Department follows the guidelines issued by
the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the
award of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
(BSEE) & Bachelor of Science in Electronics
& Communications degrees.
Presently the department is offering the following
degree programmes:
a. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
(BSEE)
b. Bachelor of Science in Electronics & Communications
Engineering degrees are accredited by the Pakistan
Engineering Council (PEC), and fullfil the requirements
set by the council.

Programme
Description
At
the University of Lahore, we believe that a student
with personal interest and aptitude for engineering
can be prepared in a short time of one semester
for induction into the engineering programme.
Thus, we have designed the programme “Bachelor
of Science in Electronics and Communication” (BSEC)
to allow students to make the engineering career
selection at a point of time when they have had
a chance to discover their capabilities and career
paths. The only requirement for joining this programme
is 12 years of education (in any field), personal
interest and aptitude for engineering. Understandably,
this programme is not recognisable by Pakistan
Engineering Council (PEC) because of the entrance
requirements.
Preparatory
Semester
Extensive courses in Physics and Mathematics to
prepare for induction in BSEC programme. In addition
English comprehension course may be required based
on the test results. Minimum 145 credit hours
earned as per programme structure.Eligibility
Criteria
Intermediate or equivalent (any subject) with
minimum 2nd division.
