The department realizes its responsibility to ensure long-term vitality of mathematical sciences; that it should foster the development of mathematical scientists as future scholars, teachers and organizational leaders as well as maintaining the interdisciplinary collaborations that play a central role in modern society.

Highly qualified and competent professionals are engaged in teaching and supervision of research in modern areas of mathematical science. The department is active also in collaborative research projects with foreign professionals.

The Department of Electrical Engineering provides degree courses which are accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), that reflect the University’s excellence in teaching and research. The teaching of Medicine and Dentistry has to accomodate the rapid evoluion in sicnece as well as the wide range of applications to which the technology is appied.

Students and staff get to know each other well through small group tutorials, laboratory sessions, informal contact discussion and problem based learning. All our students spend a substantial part of their time working on individual or group projects supervised by one of our research teams. New technologies are being rapidly introduced replacing the existing ones. This change and revolution of the discipline has let to the introduction of new courses, and recision and enhancement of existing courses according to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) recommendations.

The new curriculum aims to deliver concepts, techniques and methods required for practical work in the modern environment of software development. In addition to the teaching of the fundamentals concepts, techniques and methods, the emphasis is also on learning how to analyze, design and build the software. A set of elective courses is also offered to provide students with in depth knowledge of cutting edge tools and technologies. A part of curriculum is also devoted to lab exercises. Students are exposed to real life problems and are encourages to collaborate with facility for exploration of the latest tools and technologies. This enables students to get hands on experience and prepare themselves for forthcoming challenges in their professional career.

The Department of English Language and Literature offers a professional, yet congenial enviornment to teach and promote and understanding of both the signifiance and the history of British and American literatures and to foster an appreciation of the richness and variety of texts in the language. We offer rigorous training in interpretive thinking and precise expression, teaching students to invent ideas, organise them, draw deductions and make connections to new ideas, and articulate them in eloquent and convincing ways.

The English graduation programme features the study of imaginative language, rhetoric, and the poetic and narrative arts and it focuses on the roles imaginative writing and representations play in almost every aspect of human experience.

The Department of English Language and Literature values commited teaching and supercision in an atmosphere of vigorous research, and provides students with a flexible programme of study wherein the M.A. English Literature and M.A. ELTL degrees are typically completed within a twenty four (24) months period culminating in a Research Project or, less frequently, a Thesis.

The explosion of new drug products in the market has compelled physicians, other health professionals and patients to reply more and more on the expertise of the pharmacists who are trained better to understand how these drugs exert their actions, travel through the body and interact with one another. Pharmacy is among the primal pyramids of health sector, taking a quantum leap toward research and development, similar to its other counter-parts. The profession of Pharmacy has evolved from its traditional role of compounding the drugs to the pharmaceutical care, the design and development of magic drugs and their formulations and the ongoing research in medical and pharmaceutical fields to counteract the needs of the modern society. Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology

The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), The University of Lahore, was established in 2004. It started academic programs of postgraduate teaching and research degree leading to M. Phil. and Ph. D. in the subjects of biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology and biotechnology. Later M. Sc. and B.Sc Hons (4 year) were added too. It is first institute in its field established in private sector. It fulfills the requirements for advancements in the subjects of biological sciences, which is now the most important area of studies for the 21st century associated to economic and industrial development of the country. Efforts are under way to upgrade the existing facilities at the IMBB to the status of a center of excellence.

The institute has services of highly qualified faculty members, provision of equipment and building which has a surrounding of academic atmosphere housing, the faculty of arts and science, dentistry, information technology, engineering, pharmacy, and humanity subjects.

The subjects of biochemistry and molecular physiology has emerged new trends in molecular biology & biotechnology Curricula with special emphasis on cellular mechanism leading to function in living organisms. The institute’s focus on these areas in conjunction to developments in recombinant DNA technology, monoclonal antibody, immunology, immunoassays and protein sequencing etc. to study the structural and functional aspects. These basic and applied research fields have helped to explore innovative pathways of research fields to understand genomics and proteomics. At present this institute is actively engaged in studies related to male infertility, cell receptor studies, lipid-membrane-receptors interactions, cancer, molecular detection of infectious diseases, application of immunoassays in diagnostic fields & industrial uses. M. Phil. / Ph. D. scholars are enrolled at the IMBB to take specific areas at postgraduate research degree programs since 2004-2005 sessions. The institute has also started a 2 years postgraduate research / teaching degree programs for M. Sc. degrees in biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology.

The institute has also introduced a 4-years B.Sc. Hons program on the lines given by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The institute has a highly qualified teaching staff, facilities for research which enable them to produce high quality manpower in the field of molecular biology & biotechnology.
