  • SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS

    The School of Creative Arts will focus on imparting practical media expertise and theoretical knowledge with a research oriented approach towards curriculum design. The school will harness the strong industry links by creating internship and placement opportunities while also acting as a center for vocational training by offering part time and executive courses to professionals currently established in the industry.

Course Aims & Objectives

  • Offer courses in which the student is informed by extensive research activity and professional technical and practical expertise.
  • To encourage an inquisitive approach amongst students towards film, television, media, and new media.
  • Development of knowledge, understanding and key skills required to produce or research new trends in media in Pakistan.

Does SoCA offer Short Courses?

SoCA will offer short courses and diplomas beginning from the winter session 2011. You can keep yourself updated through the SoCA website for additional information.

Which course is right for me?

The course you choose is determined by a range of factors which, in summary, include:
* Your area of interest.
* Your intended aims including, for example, whether or not you intend to study for a career or merely to deepen your current knowledge of a subject.
The degree programs offer a broader base of education in creative arts, media and communications that can be utilized effectively by the graduates in the expanding field of media (broadcast/print) in Pakistan.

What is the relationship between theory and practical?

Courses at SoCA are taught 'hands on'. This means that the theory lectures are supported by individual and group practical time for each student, using equipment that is housed on site. Theoretical topics are dealt with in formal lectures given at prescribed times and student performance is gauged through a series of tests and final exams. Practical studio time is booked outside of, and in addition to, lecture times. Normally, students are required to complete a set of practical assignments before being able to sit the final practical exams. In the final assessment for most courses, theory and practical are given similar weightings.

What is the Admission Criteria for SoCA?

The minimum requirements for admission are intermediate/A Levels or other qualifications with minimum 50% marks.

How do I Apply?

You can apply by purchasing the prospectus from University of Lahore campuses and after filling out the form and necessary information submit it to the admissions office.

I am still awaiting my results. Can I apply?

Yes you can apply by filling an undertaking form provided along with the prospectus. However you will be admitted on a conditional basis in the course.

Is there an Entry Test?

Yes. The test is based on the lines of SATs, IELTS and TOEFL with emphasis on simple general knowledge, English language and comprehension skills. A sample is provided.

When should I pay the registration fee?

The registration fee should be paid as soon as you decide to take a course. Places are only held on courses once this fee (and registration paperwork) has been received by the Institute.

What does the faculty comprise of?

All our lecturers of SoCA are foreign qualified and experienced industry professionals.

Is accommodation/transport available?

The UoL has newly constructed separate boys and girls hostel facilities and has designated bus routes.

A place is reserved for you on the course once your correctly completed Registration Form, registration fee and first installment have been received.
