SIA organizes a lecture on “Pakistan's Efforts in Pursuit of Kashmir Conflict Resolution”
On December 3, 2018, the Society of International Affairs (SIA) organized a lecture on “Pakistan's Efforts in Pursuit of Kashmir Conflict Resolution” in Auditorium I at The University of Lahore Defense Road Campus Lahore. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ahmed Qureshi, a renowned journalist, researcher, author, activist and television host. Mr. Qureshi is the executive director of YFK-International Kashmir Lobby Group, an INGO working with the United Nations and some other stakeholders for human rights and conflict resolution in Kashmir.

The lecture was attended by the members of the SIA, faculty and students of the School of Integrated Social Sciences (SISS) and research fellows at the Center of Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) at UOL.

During his lecture, Mr. Qureshi stressed on the revitalized attention Kashmir issue has regained at the global level in the recent years starting from martyrdom of Burhan Wani. In his opinion, the June 2018 UN report on the violation of human rights in Kashmir is the most important development after the UN resolutions on Kashmir. He said this will be unfair to say that the world is not paying attention to the Kashmir Issue; there is a lot in progress in Pakistan and at global level for the resolution of Kashmir conflict. Rather he highlighted the need of doing effective diplomacy by Pakistanis on Kashmir because it is a high time for gains in this regard.

The lecture was very interactive and followed a Q/A session with rich participation of the faculty and students. Dr. Tehmina Aslam, Assistant Professor at the School of Integrated Social Sciences concluded the session with a note of thanks and presented an honorary shield to Mr. Ahmed Quraishi.
