UOL signs MoU with Chinese Cos, Universities

The University of Lahore recently signed cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two Chinese giant mechanical delivery equipment manufacturing companies and two science and technology universities. The cooperation initiatives are aimed at deepening exchanges and cooperation in the areas of mechanical delivery equipment manufacturing technology, trade logistics, cultural science and education, research and innovation.      

The first historical Cooperation Agreement was signed by Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST); Hangcha Group Co. Ltd; Zhejiang SRH Science and Technology Research Institute of China and the UOL of Pakistan on June 28, 2018. The four institutions agreed to establish a joint laboratory of “Innovative Design and Intelligent Manufacturing Technology of Mechanical Delivery Equipment” in UOL, Lahore. Still in the domain of technology, all parties will focus on key technologies of mechanical delivery equipment and apply for annual national or international scientific and technological cooperation projects supported by China or Pakistan to  promote the bi-lateral communication and personnel training of R & D technicians. 

In the research area, all parties will collaborate in innovative design of mechanical delivery equipment, green manufacturing, life cycle state monitoring, fault diagnosis and fault prediction and intelligent maintenance. UOL and ZUST are responsible for key technology research, whereas Hangcha Group Co. Ltd and Zhejiang SRH Science and Technology Research Institute are responsible for manufacturing and marketing. Hangcha is an international company specialized in forklift truck and material handling equipment, while SRH is known for manufacturing of elevators, transnational operations, investment, merger, and stock restructuring.


Chairman BoG appointed as Honorary Professor

While in China recently, UOL Chairman Board of Governors (BoG) Mr. Awais Raoof was appointed as Honorary Professor of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST). This development was confirmed in a letter dated June 28, 2018 and signed by Prof. Gaoxiang Ye, the President of ZUST and addressed to Mr. Awais. It reads in part; “This is to notify Awais Raoof of his appointment as Honorary Professor of ZUST.”
