UOL hosted 6th Biennial Conference of South Asian Physiologists • Chairman PHEC and Provincial Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports officiated
The University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD), UOL, hosted the 6th Biennial Conference of South Asian Association of Physiologists (SAAP VI) & the 16th Biennial Conference of the Pakistan Physiological Society (PPS 16) between December 12th and 15th, 2018 at Defense Road Campus. SAAP IV was the 2nd South Asian Conference to be hosted by Pakistan, the 1st conference was hosted in 2008, at Shifa Medical College, Islamabad.  
The main objective of the (two in one) conference was to enhance academic and research collaboration in South Asia. More than 400 participants, representing 11 different countries including Pakistan, France, USA, Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri-Lanka and Saudi Arabia, attended the conference.
The 4-day conference consisted of 75 poster presentations, 25 plenary talks, 8 scientific themes for around 50 oral papers, 4 sessions on vertical integration of Physiology, 3 parallel teaching workshops, 2 panel discussions and excursion trips.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin (the Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. He appreciated the Department of Physiology at UCMD, UOL and PPS for organizing a keenly productive conference under the patronage of the ChairProf. Dr. Arif Siddiqui, co-chair Prof. M. Aslam and 16th Chairman of PPS Prof. Dr. M. Ayub. He stated that such conferences on basic sciences should be arranged by other science departments of all the universities in Pakistan.
