Dr. Rabia Akhtar appointed as member of Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs
Dr. Rabia Akhtar, the Head of Department School of Integrated Social Sciences (SISS) and Director UOL Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) was recently appointed as member of Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan. In a letter dated December 24, 2018 and signed by Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Director General, HR & CP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Dr. Rabia was confirmed as Council member in her capacity as a foreign policy expert/academic. She joins other nine experts, mainly drawn from the academia and retired ambassadors. 

The Council which also has other eight Ex-Officials from other ministries and government organs is chaired by the Foreign Affairs Minister. All Council members will be serving in an honorary capacity and the Chair is mandated to appoint additional Council members with area expertize and field specialization as deemed necessary.

Dr. Rabia is a holder of Master of International Relations from the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and a Ph.D graduate of Kansas State University, USA with a dissertation focused on US nuclear non-proliferation policy towards Pakistan from 1974-2001.
