Chinese envoy opens CPEC Research Center at UOL
Keeping emerging needs in the view and in order to train its faculty and the students for playing a key role in the mega project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the University of Lahore (UOL) recently set up CPEC Research Centre, which was inaugurated by Long Ding Bin (the Chinese Consul General, Lahore) along with Mr. Awais Raoof (the Chairman BoG), Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran (the Rector, UOL) and Mr. Abuzar Ghaffari (the Director Operations and Special Projects).

The key purpose of establishing the Centre is to raise awareness among the students, faculty and the public regarding CPEC and its various dimensions. Besides conducting in-depth research, seminars and workshops, the Centre will also focus on connecting Pakistani market with its Chinese counterpart and engage the young entrepreneurs studying in Pakistani and Chinese universities to come up with innovative business plans and new strategies applicable to CPEC.

Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General said Pakistani and Chinese universities can contribute enormously to the successful implementation of CPEC adding that the stability and prosperity of the Pakistani economy largely lies in the “One Belt, One Road”. He appreciated the UOL management for this initiative.

Mr. Awais Raoof, in his speech remarked that "It is our due responsibility to generate a trained manpower to deal with the future challenges that could be hitting us once the CPEC project is set to take speed. The people of Pakistan must take keen interest in playing their role for CPEC in order to put this country on the lines of rapid development and economic stability."
The Consul also planted a tree in the University and visited the School of Creative Arts’ studios. Mr. Awais Raoof presented a shield of honor and a piece of calligraphy to the Consul as a friendly gesture.
