Patron-in-Chief Raoof appreciates Poet Azad Iqbal
On April 21, 2019, The University of Lahore hosted an evening of music, discussion and poetry with Azad Iqbal. Mr. Iqbal, an LLB graduate and the eldest surviving male in the Sir Muhammad Allama Iqbal’s family tree introduced the audience to his own poetry, his own compositions of Ghalib and Faiz. His showstopper was Shikwa, which left the audience in trance. Sir M. Iqbal, is an internationally renowned poet and philosopher.

Both Patron-in-Chief, Mr. M.A Raoof, and Rector, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran were heartily gratified by Mr. Azad Iqbal’s choice of UoL as the best platform from which to commemorate and eulogize the late Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal on the 81st occasion.
The event aimed at introducing the essence of Iqbal’s philosophy that was craftily packaged in the form of poetry to UOL students of all levels. Over the past several years, Mr. Azad has completed a small "diwan" which he hopes to publish in the near future.

Mr. Azad has performed private concerts in Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Pakistan. His first public appearance was in August 2003 at a concert titled “Shaam-ey-Mashriq” (a tribute to Allama Iqbal) organised in Karachi on the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
